Team Work – Learn To Work As A Team Member Yourself

There is an age old saying about the military which is true even today - There are no bad soldiers, only bad generals. If you are finding it difficult to convince your employees to work as a team, chances are high that the top management in your firm is to blame. If you are the top management, then you are to blame.

For most leaders, the idea of team building involves issuing a series of instructions that must be promptly complied by the subordinates. You would not be creating a team by adopting such an approach. Rather, you would simply be creating a hierarchy where information flows in one direction - downward.

Can you claim that you know everything about everything? From the best way to fire an employee to finding the best gp doctor jobs uk - can you claim to be the master at everything? Obviously not. If so, why is it that your employees and subordinates are not encouraged to add to your knowledge? If you do not know it all, you should be prepared to learn from others.

You have probably ignored the talents, skills and knowledge of employees because you do not recognize them or because you feel that such recognition would undermine your position. Well, some subordinates may adopt a superiority complex but those who are really interested in sticking to your firm will respect you for your understanding and maturity.

Getting rid of employees who do not respect their seniors is not a difficult task. However, convincing employees to open their minds and contribute to the overall knowledge of the top management is a far tougher task. You should focus on these tasks to ensure that the team building exercises are not treated as a formality and provide real results.
