More often than not, those offering the training services will make this suggestion. Such persons may be interested in marketing their products and services and earning more money. However, this does not mean that you should ignore their approach completely.
Are your customers are satisfied? Are they happy? Do they enjoy doing business with you? Well, a business where there is a lot of personal contact with customers often enjoys a bad reputation. Customers walk in with their own set of problems and expect you to understand and appreciate the same. They may not even convey or communicate things properly. Some of them may be downright rude.
In such a scenario, undergoing training to handle customers properly will be very beneficial. To simply instruct your employees to treat all customers as gods does not make sense. You must adopt a practical and pragmatic approach. Certain customers will have to be handled with politeness. Others will require a firm hand and a clear approach where you convey that you will not tolerate any nonsense.
Knowing how to convey a firm attitude in a polite manner is something that requires a bit of training. Try training to enhance customer satisfaction benchmark of your organization. You can even set up an in-house team to take care of this issue. Whichever approach should take, make sure you adopt a holistic approach and give it your best shot.
